Poem: May, 2006

What I said when I was young

I was young, and I said,
"I regret nothing of the past,
because it made me what I am,
and I like what I am."

But by the time I said it,
what I thought I was,
I was no more,

and I still wonder why
I didn't stay a while.

And where am I now?
Behind a pen somewhere,
writing words, on a train,
moving on to something else.

I am not what I was, nor will I be.
How then could I regret
what was said, or who I was?

I can't believe how much there is left for me to see! Especially in the southern hemisphere, and Asia - note that the only parts of big red China I have visited are Hong Kong and Macau, the little dot under its belly.
