I can't believe how much there is left for me to see! Especially in the southern hemisphere, and Asia - note that the only parts of big red China I have visited are Hong Kong and Macau, the little dot under its belly.

That which does not kill you, creates you.

Our ability to communicate our desires clearly to one another in words, and, as social animals, to fulfill those desires with or for one another, does not elevate our desires to a higher plane than the desires of other animals.

Our hunger, our thirst, our lust, our aggression and our need for peace do not have more importance than the hungers, thirsts, lusts, aggressions and needs for peace that every ape, dog, ant and crustacean experience.

Bacteria grows best in a stable environment, as do we all.

But the universe is not stable.

It is not an eternal petri dish.

If it were, it would be a universe of healthy bacteria and humans would never have come to be.

It is the thwarting of our desires, the disasters that befall us as species (not just the human species, but all species) that make us develop and grow - in a word, evolve.
